Ani Difranco

Angela Maria Ani DiFranco was born in Canada. She is American. Her work has been featured on over 20 albums of studio work. The songs of DiFranco are classified as folk and alternative rock. They also have influences from hip hop as well as jazz and punk. Ani Difranco has been deemed as a feminist icon as well as a Grammy award-winning. As one of first female artists in the 90s, she founded her own label. DiFranco was a born on the 23rd of September 1970, in Buffalo New York. Her parents were Elizabeth (Ross), from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as well as Dante Americo DiFranco. Her father is of Italian ancestry and her mom was Montreal-born. Singer-songwriter and punk/folk musician Ani DiFranco ascended to musical hero status at the age of 25 with both the public and critics with her seventh studio album Not A Pretty Girl in 1995. She then had even more acclaim and success in the year 1996 with Dilate the following year.
